Being in business 25 years has given Custom Steel Boats, Inc. the opportunity to bid and successfully contract many types of vessels including sailboats, commercial tugs, complete aluminum vessels, and trawler yachts, just to name a few. One of the most memorable projects awarded to the yard was the first six (6) trawler yachts constructed for Real Ships from Lumberton, New Jersey. These vessels were of various lengths and designs and the last one constructed, Real Ships 57, was designed by Mr. Flowers.

A smaller version of the Neville 47 was designed by Naval Architect Charles (Chuck) Neville for a local professor to use for coastal cruising. As popularity grew for the Neville 39, Custom Steel Boats, Inc. decided to include this trawler in their semi-production line being produced for the client that doesn’t want to go through the design stage of construction. The Neville 39 was designed with the coastal cruising couple in mind making it an easy vessel to maneuver either single handedly or with a mate. Accommodations are more than adequate with sufficient storage and extra space for making the longer voyages. The galley and saloon area are open making it appear more spacious and below is one stateroom forward with an adjoining head.

The trawler includes a bow thruster and a stern thruster/take home system that gives the owner extra security. Other safety features are incorporated throughout construction of the Neville 39 making it the perfect choice for both novice as well as experienced sailors.

Custom Steel Boats constructed the custom built, USCG inspected, schooner Grand Nellie for Jeff & Ellen Troeltzsch. The Grand Nellie is a 65’ Woodin & Marean design. The Grand Nellie provides tall ship sailing experiences and education for beginner and advanced sailors of all ages including sail handling, navigation and watch keeping. The topsail schooner also participates in special events and races throughout the Caribbean and the Atlantic. The American Sail Training Association features the Grand Nellie in its publication SAIL TALL SHIPS! One of the more well traveled of the U.S. tall ships, Grand Nellie has taken part in several of the Great Chesapeake Bay Schooner Races and sailed in OpSail 2000, which began in San Juan and included stops in Miami, Norfolk, Philadelphia, New York, and Portland, Maine.

Several commercial contracts were awarded to the boat yard in the late 1990’s including a passenger ferry, a pusher tug, and a USCG inspected vessel. Today, Custom Steel Boats, Inc. continues to welcome commercial projects and will work with individual owners or companies in developing their ideas to construction.
